This project included schools in England, Georgia, Greece, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine. Eight schools in our local ‘Two Valleys Learning Collaborative’ were involved in this project (Addingham, Aire View Infants, Ashlands – Ilkley, Burley Oaks, Eastburn, Menston and Steeton).
In this project, our Year 3-4 pupils found out about electricity production, both from fossil fuels and from renewable sources; they learned about global warming and climate change; they shared their learning with the other pupils in the project.
They interviewed the school cook to find out about energy use in the school kitchen, and used an energy monitor to see how much electricity was used by the school ovens.
All the schools held a special event at the end of the project, on ‘Earth Day’, 22 April and shared photos of our activities with our partners.
At Steeton, we skyped our nearest neighbour, Eastburn School. We shared our learning and gave each other a challenge.
