SEND

Our SENDCO is Miss Wilson. She is a long-standing member of the school team and knows our families well.

Please get in touch if you would like to speak to her with any questions or concerns.

She is at Steeton Primary School every Monday and Tuesday.

We recently had an inspection of SEND from Bradford Local Authority and were identified as a beacon of good practice in the local area. We are really pleased that the work we do to ensure the progress of all our children is recognised.

Introduction to SEND at Steeton Primary School

We inspire children to be happy, confident and thriving in a safe and inclusive school.

We are approachable, passionate and hold high expectations for all our children.

Our staff are valued, empowered and supported to deliver the best for every child whilst promoting their welfare and keeping them safe and protected.

Steeton Primary School values the individuality of all our children.  We are committed to giving all our children every opportunity of achieving the highest standards they possibly can.  We do this by taking account of pupils varied life experiences and needs.  We offer a broad and rich curriculum which has high expectations and aspirations for all our children.

Our Promise

To provide an excellent quality of education for all Learners.

  • Ensure children with SEND achieve the best possible outcomes to succeed in life.
  • Use our best endeavours to support children and their families.
  • Ensure SEN is an integral part of all staff’s responsibilities, led by the SEN co-ordinator (SENDCo).
  • We will build children’s self-esteem, listen and respond to their views, raise their aspirations.
  • We will focus on outcomes for the children, consider barriers to learning and seek to remove them.
  • We will work in close partnership with parents.
  • We will identify and provide relevant professional development for staff.
  • We will access resources, internal and external, for the benefit of the children.
  • We will ensure that children with a disability or SEN will be included in all aspects of school life (if it is safe to do so) and will be treated no less favourably than their peers through the provision outlined within this policy.

At Steeton Primary School, we endeavour to have the children’s best interests and well-being at the heart of all the decisions that are made. We aim to provide high quality provision for all children that responds to children’s special educational needs. Our staff are dedicated to ensuring excellent outcomes for all. They work as part of a team towards this shared goal to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved for all learners.

Working with our parents, is crucial in the success of our children’s development. We strive to build strong relationships with parents to support this process and to create a team of support around the child.
